First edition, first printing, published as 2 volumes. 34 plates (22 in volume 1 and 12 in Volume 2), (1 of which, a pair of stained glass windows is water-coloured) and some take the form of fold out maps or charts. Contents generally very good indeed with sporadic foxing. Recently rebound in in brown cloth with quarter red leather to spine and corners. Gilt lettering to the spine.
