First edition, first printing of a lecture given in the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford and published as a 57 page pamphlet. The lecture was a critique on the contemporary notion of social Darwinism. The pamphlet dates from an era when most copies were rebound and so few original pamphlets remain. The condition is very good, all things considered, though the blue paper spine is largely missing and the front panel is detached. There is a small contemporary ownership inscription on the reverse of the front panel.
